When you fly with Lane Aviation, you're flying with experienced professionals who are committed to safety, precision, and exceptional service. Unlike many private aviation providers that rely on contract crews, Lane Aviation employs its own pilots. Every flight is operated by pilots who are trained to our standards, understand our aircraft, and are dedicated to delivering a consistent ownership experience on all managed aircraft.
Professional pilots never stop training. Every Lane Aviation pilot completes annual recurrent training at one of the nation's leading business aviation training organizations:
- LOFT Aviation — Carlsbad, California
- RTC Flight Training — Tampa, Florida
These comprehensive programs ensure every pilot maintains the knowledge, skills, and judgment expected of professional business aviation flight crews.
Lane Aviation pilots train annually in FAA-approved Level D full-motion simulators, the highest level of flight simulation available. These advanced simulators replicate the aircraft's cockpit, handling characteristics, avionics, weather, and aircraft systems with remarkable accuracy, allowing pilots to safely practice even situations that cannot be recreated in flight.
- Engine failures during all phases of flight
- Aircraft system malfunctions
- Severe weather operations
- Instrument approach procedures
- Abnormal & Emergency procedures
- Crew Resource Management (CRM)
- Aeronautical decision-making (ADM)
Joining the Lane Aviation flight department is highly selective. Every pilot is carefully chosen not only for their FAA qualifications, experience, and professionalism, but also for their commitment to providing an exceptional ownership experience. Technical proficiency is only the beginning. As our flight department has grown to nearly 20 professional pilots, we've learned that great pilots do far more than fly the airplane. They represent our clients, and help define the ownership experience every time an owner steps onboard.
Every Lane Aviation pilot is trained to uphold the highest standards of safety, and professionalism. From greeting you on the ramp to coordinating your departure, assisting with baggage, communicating throughout your trip, and ensuring every detail has been handled, our crews are trained to deliver a level of service that reflects the quality of the aircraft they fly. Beyond flying, our pilots take ownership of the aircraft entrusted to them. They monitor its condition, coordinate with our maintenance team, maintain a clean and organized cabin, and ensure the aircraft is prepared for every trip. They understand your preferences, respect your privacy, and consistently represent both you and Lane Aviation with professionalism.
At Lane Aviation, we don't simply hire pilots, we develop aviation professionals who are dedicated to delivering a first-class experience on the ground and in the air.
While our midsize jets are operated with a two-pilot crew, many of the Citation aircraft in our managed fleet are FAA-certified for single-pilot operations when flown by a properly qualified captain. This provides owners with the flexibility to choose the crewing option that best fits their mission and preferences. Many owners appreciate the efficiency and lower operating costs of single-pilot operations, while others prefer the added redundancy, and peace of mind that comes with a two-pilot crew. At Lane Aviation, both options are available. Whether you choose single-pilot or two-pilot operations, every flight is conducted by experienced, highly trained professionals who meet our rigorous standards for safety, professionalism, and customer service. Our goal is to provide the level of support that best aligns with your aircraft, and expectations.
At Lane Aviation, every decision we make is guided by one simple principle: treat every aircraft as if it were our own and every owner as if they were family. Our commitment extends far beyond scheduling flights or coordinating maintenance. We accomplish this through experienced flight crews, rigorous recurrent training, standardized operating procedures, proactive maintenance oversight, and a culture that never compromises on safety or professionalism. Every aircraft is prepared with meticulous attention to detail, every trip is carefully coordinated, and every decision is made with the owner's best interests in mind. Whether we're negotiating a maintenance invoice, preparing your aircraft for departure, or simply ensuring your family's favorite refreshments are onboard, our team is committed to delivering an ownership experience that is effortless, and dependable.
Professional pilots train for situations they hope they'll never face. That's why recurrent training in FAA-approved Level D full-motion flight simulators is the gold standard in business aviation. These simulators recreate real-world aircraft systems, weather, emergencies, and flight conditions with remarkable realism, allowing pilots to practice critical scenarios in a completely safe environment. Watch the video below to see how Level D simulator training prepares professional flight crews and why it remains an essential part of maintaining the highest standards of safety and proficiency.
